And by 'Gmail is cool', I mean 'I am a big geek'.
Gmail works with Hebrew and English in the same message, and it even knows how to do the highlighting in the proper directions on the different languages. How cool is that?
In case you were wondering, the reason I know this because I've had email correspondence with someone in Israel who wants to buy a KiloWatts CD, and their email header information is in Hebrew. |

Check this out - It costs about $100 less to fly from San Francisco to Philadelphia than it does to fly from San Francisco to Chicago on the same dates, even though the flight to Philadelphia goes through Chicago. What the fuck? |

I've been slacking on the LJ again, too. I'd like to say I've just been super busy, but that's only half an excuse. I can find time for reading other people's journals. I should be able to find time to write in my own. There's work, of course, which takes up way too much of my time. And since I'm traveling all the time, when I actually am back home, I'm always going out at night so I can see people. I'm really sad that I'm missing jamiewatts rock out at his CD release show. I put a lot of work into making that happen.
And I've been getting everything ready for the aforementioned KiloWatts CD release, including a bunch of website fixes and improvements. You should all check out the CD here or here. And buy it. Because it is awesome. For those of you that I come into real physical contact with, just tell me that you want one, and that way I won't have to charge you for shipping. And for the iTunes inclined, I finally have deep links from our site into iTunes for a bunch of our music. Getting the new KiloWatts on iTunes is in progress. Not sure exactly how much longer that's going to take, but it's pretty much out of my hands now.
I've been talking to my mortgage broker peeps and my real estate peeps about selling my house and buying a new house. It should be an adventure. I need to do some cleanup on my place before I can really sell it. New carpet. Some landscaping love. A little touching up here and there, and a couple Lysol grenades. It will be a lot easier to clean out and keep clean once my current roommates move out. I haven't really started looking at new places yet. I want a place with a garage apartment or the like that I can turn into a semi-permanent studio. It'll even be kept cat-free in the interest of Martin's respiratory system.
I'm going to ask my boss if I can expense flights to other places for the weekend instead of back to Austin if they're the same price or cheaper. Given a couple weeks lead time, I can fly from San Francisco to New York cheaper than I can fly from San Francisco to Austin. That's right. I'm jet-set. Fuck off. |

Diet Dr. Pepper, although it may taste more like regular Dr. Pepper than Diet Coke tastes like regular Coke, or perhaps more than antifreeze tastes like bubble gum, is still a bit... off. NutraSweet is just kind of nasty. For reasons beyond my comprehension, the fridge at work is stocked only with diet sodas. Being only an occasional resident of this office, I probably don't have a lot of sway in the beverage selection.
This town is way too small sometimes. Just about everyone and their mom was out at retro night last night at Elysium.
I have a ton of work do to and a million things to take care of. |

1. I will tell you what song reminds me of you. 2. I will tell you what celebrity/public/fictional person you remind me of, either personality-wise or looks-wise. 3. I will give you one word that I associate with you when I think of you. 4. I will tell you what color(s) I associate with you.
Then steal this for your journal and make someone else's day as well. |

I've been neglecting my journal of late. I'll try to remedy that a bit. |

This project is such a mess. I don't get to go home to Austin from this trip until Saturday, so I'll likely miss the Faint show. :( Maybe there's cool stuff going on in SF on Friday. |

This week was super busy for work. Yesterday, I was one of the few consultants on-site, and we were dropping a new build with a bunch of changes in it - this one is supposed to be the last build. Aren't they all? :) Anyway, It was a crazy day, but we finally (I think) got everything under control, and I was actually able to get out by 6.
On Thursday, oonceoonce took me to this awesome little Senegalese restaurant. I had halibut kebabs with coconut-peanut sauce, veggies, and couscous. With chocolate souffle for dessert. Mmmmm.
Last night we went to a crazy party, saw a crazy band (think instrumental Devo on meth), tried to go to another show, but showed up too late, and then went back to the crazy party, which by that time, had become even crazier. I wasn't nearly hip enough to be there.
I have a room at the Hilton SF for the weekend. My room is on the 37th floor, and I have a pretty cool view. I'll post some pictures soon.
Right now, I'm sitting outside a coffee shop, and my fingers are getting pretty cold, and as a result, my typing is getting progressively worse, so I'm going to go get some lunch now.
Later. |

I made it. Finally. After getting my crappy rental car, I went down to Fisherman's Wharf and got myself a nice fat bread bowl with clam chowder, and then came up here and checked into the hotel. Sleep time now. |

I'm still here. The 3:00 flight to Denver has been delayed until 3:48, which means if it gets delayed again, I probably won't make the connection to SFO. I've heard the same News8 clips about 20 times in a row now. |

They're giving away free ice cream at the Amy's here in the airport. Dark chocolate ice cream with strawberries doesn't really fix anything, but it makes me a little less irked about the whole being-stuck-in-the-airport-all-day thing.
btw, I finally posted some pictures from the Maimou show at the Parish here. |

The flight I was supposed to be on (3 and a half hours ago) got delayed because of some mechanical failure, and then delayed again, and then they finally just cancelled it. Now I'm waiting another few hours for another flight. At least I have connectivity, so I can get something done. |

Thanks to everyone who made it out to the show last night. Despite the logistical snafus, I think our set went pretty well.
I'm in the airport waiting a few more minutes for my flight to board. I only got about 3 hours of sleep last night because I had to do some work after I got back from the show. Ugh. I'm going to try to sleep a little on the plane, but it's really hard on these little planes. |

I'm in Denver. Well, in the Denver airport. The proliferation of wi-fi access points makes me happy. The fact that I'm not home yet makes me not happy.
The project is all chaotic. I'm probably going to have to be in Novato all week next week and the following. I think I might just stay over the weekend in SF. I'm going to have to change my tickets, and it's going to cost them an extra thousand dollars or so. Whatever.
Don't forget to come out on Sunday...

| back in Austin |
[Oct. 21st, 2004|10:03 pm] |
I'm dead tired. We had a lame meet & greet meeting in SF this morning before driving down to San Jose to catch our flight back to Austin, which we only barely made because the security line was insane. I'm guessing about 1/4 mile. Ugh.
Everyone who's in Austin tomorrow night should come to the Parish to see Maimou. It will be awesome. For the Dallas peeps, they're playing up there, too. Check their website for the 411. |
